Spiritjim is an excellent accusition for the West Australian breeding ranks. As he approaches his third season at stud this spring. Tall, attractive, and athletic, Spiritjim boasts a terrific pedigree that will mix tremendously with the local bloodlines. DANEHILL FREE and son of one of the greatest sires in the world, Galileo. He carries an excellent double cross of the blue hen SPECIAL and lucky breeders have the amazing opportunity to share a part of the most successful stallion in the world (Galileo), with 359 stakes winners to date and 91 Individual Group 1 winners!

Spiritjim was a tough and consistent racehorse, winning 7 of his first 9 races and reaching the pinnacle with Group 1 success in France. He raced at group / stakes level an amazing 21 times in a short 23 race career, finishing in the top 5 an amazing 14 times! He ran in the famous Arc De Triomphe twice, came 5th in a star studded field to Winx over a mile in the G1 George Main and showed his toughness racing on as a 6 year old placing 2nd in the G3 Craven Plate on his last outing.

His racing highlights included wins at stakes level as a 3 year old including the Lord Seymour and Prix Vulcain stakes. Before leaping into his 4 year old campaign winning the Group 3 D'Hedouville, Group 2 GP De Chantilly and rattling home to defeat the full brother to Frankel, "Noble Mission" in the Group 1 GP de Saint Cloud in Paris. He was sadly disqualified from his win in the G1 GP de Saint Cloud due to vet / trainer faults.

Out of an outstanding family, son of blue hen Hidden Silver (Anabaa). Half to Group 1 winner / producer Silver Frost (Verglas) and stakes placed  In my pocket (Dubawi). The successful cross of Galileo to the Anabaa line, offers breeders an excellent array of breeding options. With 359 stakes winners to Galileo and a very respectable 88 stakes winners to Anabaa, sure to excite many local breeders.

His first foals hit the ground in 2022 and they have been very well received. Excellent strong, athletic types, that all look like they can run. Famous in the Galileo bloodline, they have intelligent and independent minds, that are already picking up everything as they go. With both his colts and fillies showing early signs they will be trainers favourites in years to come.

PEDIGREE

PEDIGREE NOTES

The pedigree patterns of success shown by the best progeny of Spiritjim's sire Galileo are very helpful in predicting how Spiritjim may work as a sire.

The ALMAHMOUD family has already experienced much success with Galileo. Mares by DANEHILL are responsible for producing World Champion, Frankel and seven-time Group 1 winner, Highland Reel. In total, 17 of Galileo's Group 1 winners are out of mares by Danehill or sons of Danehill. Amongst others, 2016 European Filly of the Year Minding is out of a DANEHILL DANCER mare; 4-time Irish Group 1 winning filly Winter is out of a CHOISIR mare; and Group 1 winner Johannes Vermeer is out of a HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR mare. Similar WA bloodlines include BLACKFRIARS, EXCEED EXCEL, HELMET, sons of FASTNET ROCK, sons of REDOUTE'S CHOICE, COMMANDS, VITAL EQUINE, SO SECRET etc

The presence of three lines to Northern Dancer begs the inclusion of other ALMAHMOUD family members in mares, such as DANEHILL, HALO (sire of DON'T SAY HALO and grandsire of MORE THAN READY), MACHIAVELLIAN (sire of STREET CRY and VETTORI), CATRAIL, EL MOXIE and ARCTIC TERN. Dual Group 1 winner Red Rocks is out of a MACHIAVELLIAN mare.

The STORM CAT line has experienced good success with Galileo, six at Group 1 level including Champion 2yo and 3yo, Churchill. Storm Cat can be sourced via mares by sires such as SCAT DADDY, SHAMARDAL, HENNESSY, TALE OF THE CAT, VAN NISTELROOY, JOHANNESBURG, MUKADDAMAH, GIANT'S CAUSEWAY and BLACK MINNALOUSHE.

Mares carrying ROBERTO have worked beautifully with Galileo, producing twelve Group winners - five Group 1 winners - including four-time Group 1 winner Igugu and three-time Group 1 winner Found (both dams by INTIKHAB). Other damsires from this line include RED RANSOM, ALL AMERICAN, DR FONG, SILVER HAWK, DYNAFORMER, KRIS S (sire of BROCCO), AT TALAQ, SRI PEKAN, LEAR FAN and TOUCHING WOOD.

As a grandson of Sadler's Wells, Spiritjim should respond well to reinforcement of the GOODY TWO SHOES family. Apart from Sadler's Wells' brothers TATE GALLERY and FAIRY KING (sire of ENCOSTA DE LAGO, FALBRAV, SHINKO KING and HELISSIO) and three-quarter brother NUREYEV, influences in mares such as NORTHERN METEOR, THATCHING, GEIGER COUNTER, YEATS, INFLATE, PERUGINO, LORENZACCIO, VAL DE LOIR and OPEN DAY are appealing for Spiritjim. ZABEEL mares not only carry Nureyev, they also have family member Val De Loir.

Three Group 1 winners by Galileo have MR. PROSPECTOR up close in their dams' pedigrees. Mares by or carrying sires including FUSAICHI PEGASUS, HUSSONET, HARADASUN, RHYTHM, STRAIGHT STRIKE, STREET CRY, UNBRIDLED'S SONG, KINGMAMBO, E DUBAI, DISTORTED HUMOR, THUNDER GULCH, VETTORI, WOODMAN, FAPPIANO, GEIGER COUNTER or MACHIAVELLIAN are candidates for Spiritjim.

Mares from the NUREYEV line have also produced several top class racehorses by Galileo including Group 1 winner Rip Van Winkle (mare by STRAVINSKY); Champion 2016 Irish 2YO Rhododendron, Group 1 winners Hermosa and Hydrangea (all dams by PIVOTAL); and Together Forever (THEATRICAL). Similar WA bloodline like ORATORIO, will fit perfectly.

Spiritjim's damsire ANABAA sired an incredible 88 stakes winner himself, With Australian stakes winners from ZABEEL, BITE THE BULLET, SINGSPIEL, ENCOSTA DE LAGO, GENERAL NEDIYM, NUREYEV, ZEDITIVE, RED RANSOM, HENNESSY, KENMARE, NIGHT SHIFT and CANNY LAD.

Other Australian-bred Galileo progeny to win Group races include Il Saggiatore (mare by SNIPPETS), Linton (CENTAINE), Sousa (LAST TYCOON), Gallant Tess (DIESIS), Muir (ROYAL ACADEMY), Lightinthenite (GRAND LODGE) and Rain Gal (HURRICANE SKY). Other stallions with daughters ‘downunder’ include the damsires of triple UK Group 1 winners Australia (CAPE CROSS) and Lush Lashes (ANABAA).
