Welcome everyone, to the info page for our "SAFEGUARD" gelding. This page will hopefully give you all the information you need and make it easy to get in contact with us.

This colt is being trained by one of Perth's most successful and respected trainers in Jim Taylor, who's trained Group 1 winners to the likes of Winterbottom winners BARAKEY and MAGNIFISIO!

Our Safeguard gelding is currently spelling and will be going back into work in the next few weeks, to begin his work as a 2 Year old! He has shown enough to bring him in early to give him a chance at a 2 year old campaign.

He broke in very easily and came back with glowing reports from his breaker, he's not an overly tall colt but he is very strong from front to back. He carries all the best traits from his sire, strong in the back legs, strong hind quarters and balanced through the front end.

He has been broken in and gelded, with his entire 2 YO campaign excitingly in front of him.

This gelding is full WESTSPEED PLATINUM and you will be racing for up to $33,000 in bonus prize money!!!! For example this weekend at Belmont, instead of winning $43,000 in advertised stakes, you would be taking home $76,000!!!

A little about us...

Lightning Bloodstock was formed by Chris Rosier with a passion of horse racing and breeding about 4 years ago, with our purchase of our first broodmare called Pamela Joy. For years we would head to the track and dabbled in ownership of a few horses with other trainers and syndicates. But the experiences were lack lustre to say the least.. It didn't always matter what the horses did on the track, we just wanted to have a good time off it. Unfortunately due to poor management, the clients were left in the dark and the experience left everyone very put off.

With that I was determined Perth deserved a lot better. From humble beginnings, the operation has now extended to over 20 horses, with an exciting breeding plan, excellent partnerships with some of Perth's leading trainers and investment into the future of Perth's most exciting young training talent. We want to bring to you full transparency and communication along the way. Fun days at the track, Hopefully a few winners and more importantly a full experience that gives you lots of enjoyment. We have handpicked our trainers, we go to great lengths to buy or breed the right horses and we will never syndicate or sell a horse we don't think can win on the track. SAFEGUARD

A son of the world’s best sire of two year olds (EXCEED AND EXCEL), out of a dam (PRESERVE) who won the Group 1 MRC Sires Produce who is a half-sister to the Group 1 winning sire DENMAN, SAFEGUARD has a Golden Slipper winner in each of his first 4 generations. This remarkable situation has been further enhanced, as the dam of the 2019 Golden Slipper winner KIAMICHI, is a half-sister to the dam of SAFEGUARD, making the Slipper winner a very close relation to him.

SAFEGUARD was undefeated at two, including the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes a race that has been won by horses such as HALLOWED CROWN, FURNACES, ASTERN and more recently BIVOUAC and DOUBTLAND all of which have become stallions.

At three he won the Group 3 Vain Stakes also won by SEPOY, STARSPANGLEDBANNER, TOORAK TOFF, RUSSIAN REVOLUTION, JUKEBOX AND BIVOUAC, before going down narrowly in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes. He continued to race with distinction at stakes level before we purchased him off the track in preparation for the 2015 stud season.

And now SAFEGUARD's offspring are producing on the track! His first crop of 30 live foals has seen 29 named and 25 have raced for 20 winners (80% winners to runners!!) and has produced two stakes performers in Miss West Coast and Specialism. It is easy to understand how he won the 2019 WA 2yo Sires award as well as the WA First Season Sire award and ranking 7th in the Australian First Season Sires table.

He now has three crops and continues to produce results from relatively small foal crops. He has had 75 offspring race with 68% winners to runners and 9% stakes performers to runners. His current crop of 2yo has already produced the stakes WINNER Buzzoom! Plus the very exciting Policiere, Stay Safe, Iseered Iseered and Written Exceed. He has winners from 1000m to 1600m in all track conditions and his progeny are training on as 3 and 4 year olds.

The sales record of SAFEGUARD is equally impressive as he continues to sell 6 figure yearlings and always sits in the top few averages of the sales.

ANGELS FORCE

Angel's Force is a winner herself over 1400m and hails from an excellent black type family including her half brothers 2 YO Perth Stakes Winner "TERROR FORCE" and $600k Hong Kong raider, 2 YO winner "MOMENTUM GALAXY". To G1 Winning stallion "MR INNOCENT", G1 Placed "PRINCESS POSH" and no shortage of 2 year old winners, this colt is bred to go early!

His last 2 generations on his pedigree are "ALL WINNERS" and this bloke is going to be some real fun once we get him on the track.

How this all works

You've probably read enough sales rubbish and now just want to get involved! Below I'll list out a couple of the smaller things that are included in the ownership.

How does the monthly costs work? We have averaged out the costs of horse ownership including Trainers fees, Agistment, Vet bills, Farrier, Dental and our management fee.. In fact the only extra costs you should get (and you want these ones) is if we get nominated in a listed or need to travel to a big race. This money all goes into the "Syndicate Kitty" and as the costs come up our bills are paid. At the end of the horses career, if all bills are paid. The excess money is refunded in full back to the owners at your percentage. This also keeps it easy for our trainers, vets and agistment centres, they send 1 bill, get paid on time and everyone is happy!

Communications: You will receive constant updates on your racehorse as it happens, we have excellent access to the trainers, horses, jockeys, stable staff and media. We will keep you informed along the way with videos, audio files and write ups. We use software including Prism, which sends you updates via its smartphone app or email and is super handy to keep all your horses in one place. We will get you signed up to these in weeks to come, to help you get access directly at your fingertips.

What's included as a owner? You get full owner privileges at each venue your horse is racing. Including entry on race day, access to the owners only area, access to the stalls, plus if he has a win, can get in for a winners group photo.

Off Track Fun: We include where ever we can.. Stable visits, trial visits, chances to catch up with the trainer and horse. Naming events, hire marque tents or other race day events. We try our best to provide excellent access to the trainer, horse and facilities. We keep you in the know at all times and want you to receive the full experience of horse ownership.
